சங்குப் பூ செடியின் இலைகள், விதைகள், வேர்கள், பூக்கள் என அனைத்து பாகங்களுமே மருத்துவத்தில் பயன்படுகிறது.
சங்குப்பூவின் இலைகள் துவர்ப்பு சுவை கொண்டது. உடலுக்கு வெப்பத்தை தரக்கூடியது.
சங்குப்பூ வெள்ளை நிறமான மலர்கள், நீல நிறமான மலர்கள் என இரண்டு வகைகள் பொதுவாக காணப்படும். வெள்ளை பூ பூக்கும் தாவரத்திற்கு மருத்துவ பயன் அதிகமாக உள்ளதாக நமது மருத்துவ முறைகளில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
சங்குப்பூ சங்கு புஷ்பம், மாமூலி, கன்னிக் கொடி, காக்கணம், காக்கரட்டான் போன்ற பெயர்களிலும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. சங்குப்பூ தமிழகமெங்கும் காடுகள் வேலிகள், தோட்டங்களில் இயற்கையாக வளர்கின்றது.
அரைலிட்டர் தண்ணீரில் 40-முதல் 50- கிராம் அளவு சங்குப் பூ செடியின் வேர்களை போட்டு, நன்றாக கொதிக்க விட வேண்டும். கால் லிட்டராக தண்ணீர் வற்றிய பிறகு, மூன்று தேக்கரண்டி வீதம் இரண்டு மணிநேர இடைவெளியில் ஆறு வேளைகள் எடுத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
காய்ச்சல் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக குறைந்து , தீவிரம் குறைந்து விரைவில் குணமடையலாம்.
சங்குப் பூக்கள் சிறந்த சிறுநீர்பெருக்கியாகும். குடல் புழுக்களை கொல்லும். மூட்டுவலி, முடக்குவாதம், தலைவலி, தலைபாரம் மலச்சிக்கல் அஜீரண கோளாறுகளையும் குணமாக்குகிறது.
நெய்யில் வறுத்து இடித்து தயார் செய்த சங்கப்பூ விதைத் தூள், ஒரு சிட்டிகை அளவு வெந்நீருடன் உள்ளுக்குள் கொடுக்க குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஏற்படும் இரைப்பு நோய் குணமாகும்.
