ABSTRACT
Education - Secondary Appointment of Assistant Headmasters in High Schools and Higher
Secondary Schools - Orders Issued.

According to the existing orders, the High Schools under all kinds of managements with a
pupils' strength of 1000 and above are eligible for appointment of Assistant Headmaster with the
special pay of Rs 25/- p.m. In the case of Government School the question of appointment of
Assistant Headmaster is considered on merit of each case even though the pupils strength in these
schools is above 1000.
The Assistant Headmasters will continue to get the special pay of Rs. 25/- p.m. only so far as
the pupils strength of the school continues to be more than 1000 and they will cease to get the
special pay when the pupils strength of the school falls below 1000. In G.O. Ms. No. 1050, Finance
(PC), dated 5.10.78 the Government have made provision for payment of a special pay of Rs. 25/-
p.m. to Assistant Headmasters in High Schools with pupils strength of 750 or more as per the
recommendations of the III Pay Commission. The Graduate Teachers Federation has also
represented to Government for appointment of Assistant Headmasters in the High Schools.
2. The Government after careful consideration have decided that in the High Schools or in the
Higher Secondary Schools (which includes High School Classes also) with a Pupil's STRENGTH.
